Individual Therapy
for Adults

Individual therapy for adults provides a confidential, supportive, and psychologically informed space in which to explore difficulties, understand patterns, and work towards meaningful change. Through regular one-to-one sessions, I use evidence-based and evidence-informed psychological interventions to help adults reduce distress, improve functioning, and develop effective coping strategies.

Therapy is tailored to each person's presenting difficulties, psychological history, and treatment goals. Depending on your needs, the work may focus on anxiety management, low mood, emotion regulation, maladaptive coping patterns, interpersonal difficulties, self-esteem, trauma-related symptoms, stress, and adjustment to life events. The therapeutic process is collaborative, structured where needed, and always paced according to your readiness and capacity.

When to Seek Support

Adults may seek therapy when emotional, cognitive, or behavioural difficulties begin to affect daily functioning, relationships, work, or overall quality of life. Therapy can also be helpful even when there is no single, clearly defined difficulty — but rather a wish to better understand longstanding patterns, improve coping, or make meaningful changes.

Common reasons people seek support include:

  • Anxiety difficulties (including excessive worry, panic symptoms, social anxiety, and health-related anxiety)
  • Low mood / depressive symptoms (including sadness, loss of interest, withdrawal, and reduced motivation)
  • Adjustment difficulties following significant life events or transitions (e.g., divorce, bereavement, relocation, career changes, parenthood)
  • Interpersonal and relationship difficulties (including boundaries, conflict patterns, and attachment-related concerns)
  • Difficulties with self-esteem, self-confidence, or self-image
  • Grief and bereavement
  • Self-harm, suicidal thoughts, or significant psychological distress (with risk assessment, safety planning, and collaboration/referral to psychiatric or medical services where needed)

I also work with adults experiencing more complex presentations and, where helpful, may recommend collaborative care with a psychiatrist, GP, or other specialist professionals to support safe and effective treatment.

What to Expect

The therapeutic process begins with an initial consultation, during which we explore your current concerns, relevant background history, and what you would like support with. This first meeting helps us clarify your goals and identify the most suitable next step for your needs.

At the outset of therapy, I explain the therapeutic framework — including the proposed approach, session frequency, confidentiality and its limits (including risk-related exceptions), and practical arrangements. This helps establish a clear, safe, and collaborative structure from the beginning.

If we decide to proceed with ongoing individual therapy, sessions usually take place on a weekly basis. There is no predetermined number of sessions; the duration of therapy depends on the nature of the difficulties, your treatment goals, and progress over time. Progress is reviewed regularly, and the treatment plan is adjusted accordingly.

Sessions are typically offered at one of my offices in Limassol or Paphos. Online sessions are also available to residents of Cyprus only.
